RAY COUNTY, Mo. — Bond has been set at $100,000 cash only for a Lawson man accused of multiple child abuse charges in Ray County.

Gary Wyant (VINELink)

According to a probable cause statement filed Saturday in a Ray County courtroom, Gary Wyant, 32 tied up children in his care and placed them in small cardboard boxes as ‘punishment’ on multiple occasions.

Two children told investigators that Wyant would use zip ties to bind their hands together and place them in cardboard boxes sealed with tape for extended periods of time. One child alleged that Wyant would grab them by their throat and choke them as they were carried.

Wyant allegedly “hog tied” one child on numerous occasions, with the most recent abuse against the children occurring in May 2018.

The alleged abuse reportedly began in Spring 2017 and continued until May 2018.

The young victims also told authorities that Wyant kept a paddle with holes drilled in its body emblazoned with “the enforcer”, which the children allege Wyant would use to beat them with. Wyant would also use a belt for the alleged beatings.

Investigators alleged in the probable cause statement that Wyant burned the string, boxes and paddle described in the children’s testimony.

PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. — A man is charged with child sex-related crimes for incidents which occurred more than a decade ago in Pettis County.

According to a probable cause statement filed in a Pettis County courtroom, Jon Mark Wilson, 54 of Sedalia allegedly had sexual contact with a boy for a period spanning two years when the victim was between the ages of 10 and 12.

The victim, who is now in his mid-20s, told investigators of the abuse early in September. The victim had remained silent about the abuse until 2017, when he told his mother of the allegations.

The victim told investigators that Wilson had forced him to perform sexual acts “between 100 and 200 times,” according to the probable cause statement.

When confronted by the victim’s mother, Wilson allegedly confessed to the allegations of molestation. Jon then wrote a check for $5,000, which investigators were told was for her to “keep her mouth shut about the abuse.”

Officers were shown bank records indicating the check had been written in 2017.

When interviewed by investigators, Wilson first denied ever having sexual contact with the boy. When pressed about the $5,000 payment, he said the allegations had been “made up” and that he had made the payment to avoid the allegations being made public.

Wilson is charged with two felony counts of first degree statutory sodomy – deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 years old.

He is held on $500,000 bond, cash or surety allowed, with conditions of no contact with the victim or the victim’s mother.

Wilson will appear in a Pettis County courtroom for a bond reduction hearing at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3.
